PRSM Association members can volunteer for projects that fit their interests, expertise and schedule.  Here you will find short-term opportunities as well as PRSM’s one-year committee term.  An overview of the committees is available here .

Get Involved!  Become actively engaged in the association by volunteering! Broaden your skills and share your knowledge by recommending new or revised programs that meet the ever-changing needs of the retail facilities maintenance industry and our growing organization.

Board of Directors are nominated and elected annually by the PRSM membership.  The Board consists of eight retail and seven vendor members who serve three-year rotating terms.  Two alternates (one retail and one vendor member) are nonvoting board members who are available to move up to a board seat should a vacancy occur on the Board during a term.

Standing Committees are those committees required by the PRSM Association Bylaws.  The standing committees are Membership, Nominating, Ethics, Education, Finance and the Executive Committee.

Task Forces /Work Groups are project driven and could vary from developing content for a resource guide, developing content for the magazine to collecting data for a benchmarking report.

Other Opportunities to Get Involved include the opportunity to:

  • Write magazine articles
  • Write industry best practices
  • Write white papers
  • Write case studies
  • Become a conference or webinar presenter
  • Become a conference session moderator
  • Become a subject matter expert

Committee Year – The committee year runs August 1 – June 30 annually. 

Appointments – Committee appointments are typically for one year and occur in August, but open positions are filled throughout the year.

Get Involved Wait List – Volunteers are placed on the wait list when a vacancy on their preferred committee is not available.  These volunteers will be contacted as soon as opening becomes available on the committee of their choice and they may be contacted to serve in other capacities while waiting for a committee opening.

Meetings - Committee meetings occur via phone conferencing and monthly time commitments averages 1-2 hours a month. While serving on a Committee, Council, or Task Force is voluntary, PRSM Association’s committees do serious work. You will be asked to use your skills to accomplish the committee’s task and goals.

Committee Composition, Roles & Responsibilities

Board Liaison – Sets goals, influences direction, and guides the committee in accomplishing goals.  Reports progress to board.

Committee Chair – Leads committee’s work, assembles committee members, owns goals.

Staff Liaison – Advises and provides administrative support.

Committee Members – Collaborates and completes assignments towards accomplishing goals.
