New for Retail Facilities: A Green Procurement Resource Guide

PRSM Association Helps Retail FMs install a “Green Filter” in their Procurement Process 

DALLAS, TX – November 9, 2012 – The Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association (PRSM), the authority on retail and multi-site facilities management, this week released a new guide to help retail facilities managers reduce the environmental impact from materials and services procured for use in store maintenance, retrofits and upgrades. 

The “Retail Facilities Green Procurement Resource Guide” is a 9-page instructional document with links to more than 30 additional resources, all designed to educate the retail facilities professional on challenges and best practices on the topic.  Sample case studies, policy drafts, scorecards and other resources from PRSM members are compiled into this first-ever offering for the Retail FM.  The guide’s major topical areas include:

  • Environmental Product Preferences
  • Performance Based Products/Services
  • Corporate Policy Requirements
  • Measurement and Benchmarks
  • Evaluating Vendors and Products
  • Corporate Sustainability Commitments
  • Environmentally Preferred Products
  • Performance Requirements.

According to PRSM Association Executive Director Patricia Dameron, “this new guide gives the industry a solid starting point for education and dialogue between retail facilities managers, their suppliers and contractors, in part to help explain the type of environmental modifications could be negotiated within their partnerships.”
