New for Retail Facilities: A Disaster Planning and Recovery Guide PRSM Association Outlines How FMs Can Better Deal With Multitude of Mishaps

DALLAS – Dec. 19, 2012 – The Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association, (PRSM), the authority on retail, multi-site facilities management, today launched a new disaster and crisis management resource designed to help the retail facilities manager plan for, endure and recover from a broad spectrum of disasters, such as hurricanes, floods and other potentially devastating events.
The “Disaster Planning and Management Toolkit” is a multi-dimensional resource for retail facilities managers who deal directly with the impact of disasters, whether they are natural such as tornadoes, earthquakes, storms, etc., or from the man-made variety.
The toolkit is a compilation of approximately 40 links to instructional manuals, webinars, templates and guides provided by more than two dozen associations, government agencies and service providers, including:

“Since these disasters take a toll on retail businesses in the form of lost lives, injuries, unexpected expenses, and lost revenue, it’s necessity for facilities professionals to be prepared to limit the impact of a disaster so that their stores can return to normal business operation as quickly as possible,” said PRSM Association Executive Director Patricia Dameron. “Disaster planning and management is an ongoing process for all retailers and vendors, who need access to information and resources immediately when a disaster strikes.”
