PRSM Committee Overviews


 

Awards Committee

This committee is charged with administering the Association's most prestigious awards program in the categories of: Retailer of the Year, Vendor of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Service Excellence Awards. 

 

The committee will also review the recommendations for Lifetime Achievement. Once selected, the committee recommends the honorees to the Board of Directors for approval. The selection process should be completed in time for the honorees to be recognized at the national conference. 

 


Best Practices Committee

This committee's purpose is to identify best practices within the retail facility maintenance industry and to develop distribution channels for information that it collects for the general membership. The committee is also responsible for utilizing the content from the Retailer2Retailer Best Practices Series and conveying its value to the members.  

 

Service on this committee is open to current dues paying members, based on approval by the Committee Chair and Association President. Approval is based upon maintaining a balance of retailer and vendor members.  


 

Certification Committee

This committee is tasked with recommending, developing and promoting the Certification Program to establish standards of excellence within the industry and to further promote PRSM Association as the preeminent resource for retail facility maintenance professionals. In addition, the committee reviews the educational agenda at PRSMA regional meetings and national conference to insure there are preparatory and continuing education sessions available to support the Certification Program.  

 

Service on this committee is based on approval by the Committee Chair(s). Approval is based upon maintaining a balance of 4 retailers and 4 vendor members, in addition to the Chair(s) and PRSM Board and staff liaison. Subject Matter Experts are recruited during exam/ designation level creation but are not necessarily committee members.

 


Conferences Committee

The purpose of this committee is to insure that each PRSM conference builds upon the success of the previous one, to continually enhance the educational and networking opportunities provided to members. This committee oversees all aspects of conferences from a broad perspective and is particularly involved in developing recommendations for site location and marketing concepts for the Board of Directors. 

 

Service on this committee is based on approval by the Committee Chair & PRSM Association President. Approval is based upon maintaining a balance of retailer and vendor members.  

 


Education Committee

This committee's purpose is to recommend and develop an Annual Education Agenda consisting of quality educational programs for the PRSM national conference, midyear conference and other education offerings by ensuring that PRSM addresses current, topical issues facing retail facilities maintenance professionals. The goal of this committee is to raise the standards within the facilities maintenance industry. 

 

Service on this committee is open to volunteers, based on approval by the Committee Chair. Approval is based upon maintaining a balance of retailer and vendor members. 

 

 


Ethics Committee

This committee serves as an advisory panel to the Board of Directors. Matters concerning questions of ethics, that the Board wishes the Committee to review, will be addressed by the committee. Other matters may come to the Committee first and will be forwarded to the Board for consideration and approval. The Committee may also recommend policy changes to the Board as it views necessary. 

 

The Ethics committee is comprised of six individuals; three retail members and three vendor members. The Executive Director will sit as a non-voting member of the Committee. There is a rotating membership of here tiers, each tier consisting of one vendor and one retailer. The first tier is the junior member, the second is the senior member tier and the third tier consists of the co-chairs. Each term is two years in length. The maximum committee service is six years. Committee members progress from one tier to the next after a two year term if they wish to continue on the committee. A new retail member and a new vendor member will join the committee at the beginning of each committee year. 

 


Green Council

This council is charged with recommending and developing quality programs for PRSM to address environmentally conscious issues facing retail facilities maintenance professionals. The goal of this council is to raise awareness and to provide assistance about how to be environmentally friendly and how to adopt environmentally friendly practices within their company. This committee collaborates closely with the Energy Management Committee on issues of common interest.  

 

Service on this committee is open to volunteer members, based on approval by the Council Chair and Board President. Approval is based upon maintaining a balance of retailer and vendor members. 

 

 


Industry Benchmarking Committee

This committee's purpose is to identify common benchmarking data that is useful to member retailers and vendors within the retail facility maintenance industry and to develop distribution channels for information that it collects to the general membership. The committee is also responsible for publishing an ongoing report to the membership of useful data that provides comparative information to the membership.  

 

Service on this committee is open to current dues paying members, based on approval by the Committee Chair and Association President. Approval is based upon maintaining a balance of retailer and vendor members.  

 

 


Industry Partnerships Committee

This committee's purpose is to determine how PRSM should strategically partner with other organizations, associations, publications, coalitions, etc. to build relationships and alliances for the benefit of the association and its membership.  

 

Service on this committee is open to current dues paying members, based on approval by the Committee Chair and Association President. Approval is based upon maintaining a balance of retailer and vendor members.  

 

 


Membership Committee

This committee creates strategies, recommends and implements action plans designed to increase PRSM membership by attracting new retail and vendor members and retaining existing members. The committee also interacts with members and potential members to understand common issues and to ensure that PRSM is meeting these needs as a value-based association. 

 

Service on this committee is open to current dues paying, based on approval by the Association President and Committee Chair. Approval is based upon maintaining a balance of retailer and vendor members. 

 

 


Mentoring Task Force

This task force's purpose is to develop a mentoring program for PRSM Association enabling experienced retail facility maintenance management to share their expertise, industry knowledge and practical experience with other PRSM members.  

 

Service on this task force is open to current dues paying members, based on approval by the Task Force and Association President. Service on this group is for not more than a year.
