PRSM Association Announces 2009 Award Honorees
Phoenix, Arizona- April 21, 2009 - The Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association 2009 Annual Awards were announced this morning in Phoenix, Arizona at the PRSM2009! National Conference. The Awards Ceremony recognizes the and the who exemplify excellence in the retail facilities maintenance profession. The and are given to those who have volunteered their time and expertise to PRSM Committees, Task Forces and other voluntary efforts.
The recognizes extraordinary accomplishments by PRSM members. The Lawrence W. Whelan PRSM Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes people-living or deceased who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to the facility maintenance profession over a long career. This award was created in 2008 and was presented to the Whelan Family in honor of Larry Whelan as the Awards first recipient.

Larry Whelan was founder and Chief Executive Officer of Whelan's International for more than three decades. It was a highly successful total facilities maintenance company serving the national and international retail community. Known for honesty and integrity, he along with his sister and partner Mary, built a company with a reputation for quality performance and commitment to services. Larry's unique expertise in wood floor construction and maintenance was sought out and relied upon by specialty retailers across North America. Within his company, he was respected as an innovative visionary, strategically steering the company through the changes and growth of the industry. |

Larry was well known throughout the retail construction and facilities industry. He regularly provided seminars, demonstrations and lectures through a variety of venues in an effort to advance the skill and professionalism of his peers.
Larry was a previously awarded PRSM Vendor of the Year. He was very passionate about the PRSM Certification Program, the Retail Facility Maintenance Professional (RFMP) designation. He served as co-chair of the Certification Committee and was integrally involved in its pre- and post-launch over the past several years. He led the industry through his commitment to continued education and service expertise.
He was a leader of this industry and inspired the PRSM community every day and is sorely missed.

Ron Prager has over 35 years of experience performing and supervising design, installation, service and maintenance of refrigeration and HVAC systems. He is a graduate mechanical engineer and has authored over a dozen articles relating to HVAC and refrigeration in trade magazines. Ron is currently on the PRSM Best Practices Committee. He has co-chaired the PRSM Education Committee and is a past PRSM Association Board Member. His is nationally known for his troubleshooting capabilities and for his creative design, maintenance and service solutions.

Lisa has tirelessly committed herself to PRSM in her role as Board Liaison to the Green Council. From the very beginning, as the Council was being formed, Lisa was at the forefront of its development. This began with the survey of the PRSM members to define what they were looking for with regards to "green". This data then became the basis for forming the Council's direction, selecting Council members and establishing the Green Council Action Plan. All through the process, Lisa was there as a strong voice, helping set direction, encouraging and coaching the Council.

| As the Council grew this year and took on new members, Lisa was once again a guiding force in its developed by establishing industry partnerships that will further the Council's work. She has a commitment to PRSM and a true passion for sustainability. Today, the Green Council has a clearly defined mission and direction, with significant accomplishments under its belt, including a series of Green Webinars, presentations and a Green Learning Center at PRSM2009! and articles for the PRSM magazine green issue. The future of the PRSM Green Council is bright thanks to Lisa's efforts and dedication over the past year. Lisa is also a PRSM Association Board Member. |

Ann Moran has been an enthusiastic, positive, hard working member of PRSM for years and she is making a difference. In 2008, she worked as committee chair on the Membership Committee. She has approached this challenge by engaging and recruiting a committee team that is serious about getting things done. She has laid out a very clear plan with metrics and strategic direction for her team to follow. She writes articles for PRSM's magazine, she participates actively in PRSM board meetings as Advisory Committee member and participates in all PRSM sessions. |
