When people are in need, PRSM Impact! steps up to help!
More than 30 volunteers arrived early for PRSM2017 National Conference to put on their work clothes and help paint and landscape the Volunteers of America Riverside Treatment Center located in southeast Fort Worth.
With suppliers and retailers working side-by-side, they attacked painting the entry way to the facility, painted curbs, planted shrubs and landscaped the entire front of the facility. “We transformed this entry way for them,” said Bill Ackerman, Co-Chair of the PRSM Charity Committee, National Sales Executive for Vixxo, and recipient of PRSM’s 2017 Volunteer of the Year Award.
Ackerman emphasized that it was definitely a team effort. “PRSM held its first work day here in August, and we had 70 people volunteering that painted approximately 80 percent of the interior of the 100-bed facility, and today we transformed the drive-up entry way and the parking lot. We could never do this type of project without a lot of support.
A few stars stood out during the projects. National Coating Solutions, represented by Kevin Kenyon, provided the paint for the entry way project and Kevin was the lead painter on both projects. Maesto’s Paint Company and Benjamin Moore donated paint and painting supplies. Springwise and Site One Landsape Supply donated landscaping materials and plants. Simon Roofing provided major repairs to the roof of the facility.
One of the biggest surprises of the day came when Pavement Services, a PRSM supplier from nearby Euless, Texas pulled into the parking lot with their curb painting and parking lot striping equipment. They had heard about the PRSM Charity project and just wanted to help out. They striped the parking lot, and the entry way road, painted all of the curbs and added that special finishing touch that wrapped up the project.
“This is just amazing!” said Shawn Ewing from the VOA Texas Division. “We can’t thank PRSM enough. What the PRSM Charity has done here will touch hundreds of lives, at a time when they need it most. VOA would like to thank those companies and individuals who gave of their personal time, donated supplies and cash to make this happen.”
Ackerman wrapped up the project by saying, “PRSM Impact! can make a big impact on a lot of people’s lives. All it takes is you and your company stepping up to help. If everyone just does a little we can accomplish so much and I think this project proves it. Stay tuned, because we have other, bigger projects planned for the future.”
