VR Could be Great Tool to Train FMs

Walmart is putting the emerging technology of virtual reality into its training academies to help onboard managers and associates and give them some “hands-on” experience in a lab setting. This provides employees opportunities to prepare for retail experiences like Black Friday, or other busy business days. The FM industry is constantly changing, and virtual reality training during onboarding could be the perfect way for new FMs to see the field and what they need to prepare for before jumping into the job. The Busiest Shopping Days for Brick-and-Mortar

Leaders across the retail organization need to be hyper-focused on the busiest days. Operational alignment is important throughout the year, but is a necessity during high-traffic dates. The ten busiest days during the 2016 calendar year were, not surprisingly, all centered around Christmas-time; with Black Friday being the busiest day of all. For more, click here.

Leadership Matters

The 2017 Best Practice, “Leadership Matters”, by Paul Grunau, Chief Learning Officer, APi National Service Group, highlights the importance of leadership at every level. Leadership should be a part of a company’s purpose and values – and every employee should live by those ideals. Sourcing Case Studies for Retail Facilities

Whether you are a retailer or a supplier, a solid understanding of sourcing is essential to your success. In September 2011, PRSM published the white paper “Understanding Retail Facilities Sourcing.” The paper was the first of a three-part series. It presented a strategic and tactical overview of the basic facilities services models (in-sourcing, co-sourcing and out-sourcing) and provided a checklist of things retailers need to be aware of in order to best position themselves for the sourcing challenges ahead.

A second white paper titled “Supplier Insights into Competitive Sourcing” focused on sourcing from a facility services providers’ perspective.

The final paper in the series, “Retail Facilities Sourcing Case Studies,” presents feedback from some of PRSM’s top retailers who have experienced FM sourcing transitions. Many of the moves were successful but some were not. The summaries of these retailers’ perceptions about the transitions and lessons learned from those events are presented.
