Kentucky and California have enacted new janitorial regulations that impact PRSM members. Kentucky’s legislature introduced and approved a sweeping tax reform bill that adds a 6 percent sales tax to a host of services, including janitorial and lawn care services. All janitorial service providers in California are now required to register with the state on an annual basis. For every day a company does not register, they will be fined. PRSM has a special study course for the Retail Facilities Management Professional, RFMP test. It includes a different course for each of the eight modules covered in the RFMP exam. One of the courses, “Managing Preventive Maintenance (PM) Programs” addresses managing scheduled, routine equipment maintenance.
